A study from Japan shows that coffee and green tea can be a “miracle drug” for some people with underlying health conditions, especially when combined.

A research team from Kyushu University, Fukuoka Dental University, and Hakujyuji Hospital (Japan) studied the effects of coffee and green tea on patients with severe type 2 diabetes – a common underlying disease.

This underlying disease can contribute to other health problems, including circulatory disease, cancer, dementia, and weakened bones and joints… thereby increasing the risk of premature death from all causes.

The results just published in the medical journal BMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care may help reverse that danger.

Nearly 5,000 study volunteers had detailed health data collected and the number of cups of green tea and coffee they drank daily.

During the five-year monitoring period, 309 people died from various health problems.

Compared with the amount of drinks consumed by the volunteers, the research team showed that by just drinking 1 cup of green tea a day, the risk of death from all causes was 15% lower than that of people who did not drink it.

The risk of death decreased by 27% for those who drank 2-3 cups of green tea per day, up to 40% for those who drank 4 cups.

For coffee, the risk of death within five years is reduced by 12% for people who drink less than 1 cup, meaning some days they drink it, while others don’t. If you regularly drink 1 cup of coffee daily, your risk is 19% lower. The risk is up to 41% lower with two or more cups.

If you like to drink coffee and green tea, the benefits are even more surprising.

The risk is reduced by up to 51% when drinking 2-3 cups of green tea plus at least 2 cups of coffee per day; 58% reduction when drinking four or more cups of green tea plus 1 cup of coffee; Up to 63% off with at least 4 cups of green tea and at least 2 cups of coffee a day.

Four cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee: The perfect formula for a long life?

These miraculous effects come from the bioactive ingredients of these two trendy drinks.

Green tea contains several antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds, including phenols, theanine, and caffeine.

Besides, coffee contains caffeine, phenol, and many other unique compounds.

In particular, caffeine is one of the key “miracle drugs” because it can change the production process and improve insulin sensitivity. Thanks to that, type 2 diabetes is better controlled, while other adverse health developments are prevented.

Therefore, if you drink coffee and green tea every day, keeping this habit is one of the simplest ways to help you prevent and control one of the most common underlying diseases today.
